About Us
The National Mission on Edible Oils - Oil Palm (NMEO-OP) is a centrally sponsored scheme aimed at promoting the cultivation of oil palm and other edible oil crops to achieve self-sufficiency in edible oil production. This mission focuses on increasing the area under oil palm cultivation, enhancing productivity, and providing financial and technical support to farmers.
It also aims to reduce the import of edible oils and ensure the availability of quality edible oils at affordable prices. Under the NMEO-OP, various initiatives have been introduced to support farmers, including subsidies for planting material, maintenance, and intercropping.
Additionally, the mission provides support for irrigation and processing units to improve the overall efficiency and productivity of oil palm plantations. The mission also emphasizes the importance of research and development in the field of oil palm cultivation. By investing in advanced agricultural practices and technologies, NMEO-OP aims to boost the yield and quality of oil palm crops, thereby contributing to the nation's goal of achieving self-reliance in edible oil production.
